NOV 25,(V7N) - On Sunday, Lebanon's Hezbollah launched a heavy rocket barrage at Israel, with the Israeli military reporting significant damage, including houses destroyed or set ablaze near Tel Aviv. This escalation follows a powerful Israeli airstrike on Beirut on Saturday that killed at least 29 people and marked one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent weeks. The bombardment in Beirut's Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs intensified, coinciding with efforts to advance U.S.-led ceasefire talks.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching precision missiles at two military sites in Tel Aviv and nearby locations, including Petah Tikvah, on the eastern side of Tel Aviv. There were reports of multiple impacts in the area, causing minor injuries. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that one of the rocket strikes hit a neighborhood, causing homes to catch fire and leaving visible damage to buildings.
According to the IDF, Hezbollah fired 250 rockets at Israel, with many intercepted by missile defense systems. Sirens were activated across most of the country, and at least four people were injured by shrapnel. Video footage from Nahariya, a northern Israeli city, showed a rocket exploding as it struck a building’s roof.
In retaliation, the Israeli military carried out airstrikes targeting Hezbollah facilities in southern Beirut, particularly in the Dahiyeh suburb. On Sunday, the IDF reported hitting 12 Hezbollah command centers in Dahiyeh, while on Saturday, it conducted one of its deadliest strikes in central Beirut. The airstrikes have been particularly focused on Hezbollah’s infrastructure since September 2023, following nearly a year of hostilities stemming from the Gaza war.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry raised the death toll from the previous day's airstrikes to 29, with a total of 84 people killed in recent attacks, bringing the total death toll to 3,754 since the escalation began in October 2023. The violence has escalated in response to the ongoing conflict, with significant casualties on both sides.
