Dhaka, June 27 (V7N) — The Hindu community across Bangladesh is set to celebrate the auspicious festival of Jagannath Rath Yatra on Friday with grandeur and devotion. The annual chariot festival will be marked by vibrant processions, spiritual observances, and community gatherings in Dhaka and other major cities and towns.

In anticipation of large crowds of devotees and tourists, the authorities have placed special emphasis on safety and event coordination. Law enforcement agencies, local administrations, and organizers are actively working to ensure a peaceful and well-managed celebration. Security arrangements have been reinforced, particularly around key festival sites.

In Dhaka, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is organizing a grand Rath Yatra celebration from its Swamibag Ashram. On Wednesday, ISKCON leaders held a press briefing at the ashram to outline preparations and appeal for public cooperation.

Speaking to the media, Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari, General Secretary of ISKCON Bangladesh, emphasized that this year’s festival aims to promote peace, harmony, and spiritual upliftment for all communities. “Rath Yatra is a symbol of universal brotherhood, and we welcome everyone to join in the celebration,” he said.

He was joined by ISKCON Treasurer Jyotishwar Gaur Das Brahmachari, Executive Committee member Bimala Prasad Das, and other senior monks and devotees, including Hrishikesh Gauranga Das, Nandan Acharya Das, and Shubha Nitai Das, principal of the ISKCON Uttara Ashram.

The ISKCON representatives also confirmed that traditional rituals, devotional music (kirtan), and cultural programs will accompany the chariot procession through central Dhaka, drawing thousands of devotees and onlookers.

Government agencies have been inspecting event routes, coordinating traffic control, and monitoring security systems to prevent any disruptions. Volunteers will also assist with crowd management and first aid services during the event.

Jagannath Rath Yatra, a major annual festival in Vaishnav tradition, commemorates Lord Jagannath’s symbolic journey from his temple to his aunt’s house on a majestic wooden chariot, accompanied by his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra.
