Munshiganj, Feb 03 (V7N) — BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has stated that ongoing reforms cannot be used as an excuse to delay democratic processes, emphasizing that people will not accept any obstruction to democracy.
He made the remarks on Monday afternoon after paying tribute to the martyred President Ziaur Rahman at his tomb, accompanied by members of the Munshiganj District BNP's partial convening committee.
Speaking to reporters, Rizvi stressed the need for an election roadmap from the interim government, asserting that it is essential to end the people's prolonged deprivation.
"If you talk about reforms but block the path to democracy, people will not accept it naturally," he said.
Rizvi also criticized the government's approach to dissent, urging those unable to handle criticism to step down from advisory positions and engage in politics independently. He clarified that BNP's criticism is aimed at making the government more responsible, not fostering hostility.
Additionally, he called for an end to the use of shotguns by police against protestors, condemning the suppression of political movements.
