Thakurgaon, Oct 15 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that launching various movements ahead of the upcoming national elections is not a good sign for the country. He emphasized that the people do not understand issues like proportional representation (PR) or referendum, and that holding elections quickly is essential to save the nation.
He made these remarks while speaking at a view-exchange meeting at Bariya Union in Thakurgaon on Wednesday morning (October 15).
Mirza Fakhrul said that the next elections will be held under a system that ensures the voting rights of all citizens. He asserted that the BNP believes in democracy and religious harmony, saying, “BNP does not want revenge; it wants peace.”
The BNP Secretary General added that the country has long suffered from political division and urged everyone to move forward together, respecting the people’s mandate.
Mirza Fakhrul further pledged that if the BNP comes to power, the party will work to eliminate unemployment by creating one crore jobs.
