Dhaka, Feb 13 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has taken a commanding lead in the 13th National Assembly elections, crossing the 200-seat mark in the latest unofficial, center-wise results released Friday morning.
According to the latest figures available at the time of reporting, the BNP has won 212 seats, while the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance has secured 77 seats.
Vote counting is still ongoing, and election officials expect the official results of all 299 constituencies to be announced by Friday afternoon.
Earlier, polling was held simultaneously at 42,779 centers nationwide from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm on Thursday without major interruptions. Alongside the parliamentary elections, nationwide referendums were also conducted on the same day.
The process of announcing center-wise results from across the country is currently underway.
