Keraniganj, Jan 26 (V7N)— Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced on Sunday that top terrorists out on bail and involved in criminal activities will be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.

Speaking at the inauguration of an emergency service hotline at Keraniganj Central Jail, the advisor highlighted the ongoing threat posed by individuals who, after being released on bail, are engaging in crimes such as extortion and murder. "These criminals will be brought under control," he assured reporters.

Acknowledging a rise in theft and robbery across the country, Jahangir Alam stated that police forces are actively working to tackle these issues. While manpower is sufficient, he noted a lack of confidence within the police force and outlined efforts to bolster their morale and efficiency.

The advisor also revealed that among the convicts who escaped during the jailbreak on August 5, approximately 700 remain at large. "An operation is underway to apprehend these fugitives," he confirmed.

As part of the government’s initiatives to modernise the prison system, an emergency hotline service was launched, allowing relatives of prisoners to access key information. By calling 09612021690, individuals can inquire about a prisoner’s location, parole details, physical condition, appearance, interview dates, and speaking schedules.

“This service will also create job opportunities for those injured during the July protests,” Jahangir Alam added, reflecting the government's commitment to rehabilitation and support.

The introduction of the hotline is seen as a step forward in ensuring transparency and improving communication between prisoners' families and the authorities.
