Dhaka, Feb 25 (V7N)- Nahid Islam, the interim government’s advisor for information, broadcasting, and telecommunications, has resigned from the advisory council, as confirmed by the Chief Advisor’s office on Tuesday afternoon.
Sources indicate that Nahid Islam is set to lead a new political party, which will be launched on February 28. The party is being formed through the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee. His resignation is reportedly linked to his involvement in the new party.
Earlier in the day, an unscheduled meeting of the interim government’s advisory council was held under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Chief Advisor’s residence, Jamuna. The meeting, which began at noon, was attended by other council members.
The press wing of the Chief Advisor’s office stated that journalists will be briefed about the meeting later today in front of the Jamuna residence.
For the past few days, there had been widespread speculation about Nahid Islam forming a new political party. He had previously hinted at resigning from his government position to pursue a new political journey.
With his official resignation, all eyes are now on February 28, when the new political party will be formally introduced.
