Dhaka, Mar 30 (V7N) – This year, passengers traveling by train during the Eid journey have been spared from the common issues of ticket black-marketing and extortion, according to Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam.

At a briefing after visiting the Kamalapur Railway Station around 10:30 am on Sunday, he emphasized the success of the strict monitoring system. "Every year, a train ticket black-market syndicate forms, with some railway officials involved. This time, it has been strictly monitored. No one from the railways was able to get involved in this (ticket black-market). As a result, passengers did not face any difficulties," he said.

Jahangir Alam also highlighted that extortion and stopping of vehicles on the way, which were recurring issues in previous years, had been effectively controlled this time. "No one got the opportunity or courage to do it. Members of law enforcement agencies have been active and doing their jobs as per instructions. Overall, we are getting positive results during the Eid journey," he added.

When asked about the passengers’ experiences, the Home Affairs Advisor mentioned that, after speaking with travelers at the station, they expressed satisfaction with the smooth and comfortable travel. "Everyone is happy. This time, they are able to travel comfortably compared to other times. There is very little suffering. No one is asking for extra money," Alam noted.

Director General of Railways Md. Afzal Hossain, Station Manager Shahadat Hossain, and other senior officials of the Railways were also present during the visit.
