Dhaka, Apr 01 (V7N) – On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the prison authorities have made special arrangements for inmates across the country, allowing them to meet their relatives, receive home-cooked food, and participate in festive programs for three days.

From Tuesday (April 1) morning, long queues of relatives were seen outside the central jail, waiting to hand over home-cooked meals to their loved ones inside. Prison guards received the food against specific tokens and ensured its delivery to the respective prisoners.

  • Family Meetings: Special visiting sessions were arranged across 16 units of the two main jail buildings, allowing families to reunite with their imprisoned relatives.

  • Home-Cooked Meals: Families were permitted to send home-prepared Eid delicacies to the inmates, bringing them a taste of festivity behind bars.

  • Eid Prayers: Prisoners offered Eid prayers within the prison premises, marking the religious significance of the day.

  • Cultural Programs: On the third day of Eid, a special cultural program will be organized, bringing some joy to the inmates.

Relatives expressed their happiness and gratitude for these special arrangements, which allowed them to share moments of joy despite the circumstances. One family member, waiting outside the prison, said:
"Though our loved ones are behind bars, being able to bring them food and see them during Eid brings us some comfort."

Such special initiatives by the prison authorities aim to ensure that inmates can experience the spirit of Eid, despite their confinement.
