Dhaka, Apr 11 (V7N) – In protest against the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, a rally of ‘March for Gaza’ will be held at Suhrawardy Uddyan on Saturday, aiming to intensify global solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.
Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh organized the rally. Thousands of people are expected to gather at Suhrawardy Udyan around 2pm.
Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf, Media Coordinator of the Palestine Solidarity Movement, said the march will begin at 2pm from five points and culminate in the mass gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan at 3pm.
Organizers said the purpose of the rally is to raise a united voice against Israeli aggression and demonstrate unwavering support for the innocent civilians of Palestine.
The organizers have also announced that Muhammad Abdul Malek, the Khatib of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram, will preside over the gathering.
The participants will start entering the rally venue from Bangla Motor area through Ramna Gate via Shahbagh, Kakrail intersection through Engineers’ Institute Gate via Matsya Bhaban, Zero Point through TSC Gate via Doyel Chattar, Bakshibazar Intersection through TSC Gate via Shaheed Minar and Nilkhet intersection through TSC Gate via VC Chattar.
A public meeting will be held at the same venue, where top leaders from the country’s political, social and other sectors are expected to share the stage.
A large stage has already been set up and special security arrangements have been put in place at the venue.
To ensure the success of the event, the organizers have issued several instructions.
On Friday, leaders from different political parties visited the meeting venue at Suhrawardy Uddyan to oversee preparations.
Various parties and groups, including the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), Jamaat-e-Islami, Hefazat-e-Islam, AB Party, as well as prominent Islamic speakers and professionals from different sectors, organized the ‘March for Gaza’ rally.
The platform, Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh, created a Facebook event titled ‘March for Gaza’.
As of 6pm on Friday, around 73,000 people had shown interest in the event and 6,300 confirmed their participation.
According to the organizers, this will be the largest public gathering in Dhaka in support of Palestine.
They have urged people from all political affiliations and backgrounds to join the program.
Additional security arrangements have been taken centering the rally to ensure law and order situation while traffic police also took measures including diversion on certain roads to manage traffic flow, said deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Talebur Rahman.
