Anatolia, Apr 12 (V7N) – Bangladesh has reiterated its unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in line with United Nations resolutions, while also expressing its commitment to strengthening engagement with the International Criminal Court (ICC).
This assurance was conveyed during a high-level meeting between Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain and Information and Broadcasting Advisor Md. Mahfuz Alam with ICC Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan on the sidelines of the Anatolia Diplomacy Forum (ADF)-2025 on Friday.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting highlighted Bangladesh’s consistent advocacy for justice and accountability in global conflicts. The advisors expressed deep concern over the recent aggression against Palestinians and acknowledged the ICC’s role in addressing global humanitarian issues, including the Rohingya crisis and the ongoing situation in Gaza.
The two Bangladeshi advisors also underscored the urgent need for accountability and justice for crimes against humanity committed against the Rohingya community, emphasizing the importance of a permanent solution to the crisis.
In the discussion, both parties explored all aspects of cooperation between Bangladesh and the ICC. ICC Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan praised Bangladesh’s firm commitment to international justice and its support of the Rome Statute, which established the ICC.
Advisor Touhid Hossain expressed interest in expanding Bangladesh’s collaboration with the ICC in areas such as training and capacity-building for legal experts, academics, and jurists. Both sides agreed to deepen their engagement moving forward.
The meeting was attended by Bangladesh's Ambassador to Turkey and senior officials from both Bangladesh and the ICC.
The three-day Anatolia Diplomacy Forum (ADF)-2025 commenced on Friday under the theme “Restoring Diplomacy in a Divided World.” Organized by Turkey’s Foreign Ministry and under the patronage of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the forum serves as a global platform for dialogue on peace, cooperation, and diplomatic solutions to international conflicts.
The ADF brings together a wide array of stakeholders, including more than 20 heads of state and government, over 50 foreign ministers, 70+ ministers, 60 senior international organization representatives, as well as academics, business leaders, media professionals, students, and members of civil society—totaling over 4,000 participants.
Bangladesh’s active participation at the forum highlights its commitment to multilateral diplomacy, peace-building, and justice in the global arena.
