Dhaka, Apr 18 (V7N)- A United States delegation led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Nicole A. Chulik and Andrew Herap has expressed strong support for the interim government’s reform agenda during a high-level meeting in Dhaka.

The delegation met with Principal Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Thursday. The meeting covered a broad range of issues including regional peace, security, and development, according to BSS.

Also present at the meeting were National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman and US Mission Chief in Dhaka Tracey Ann Jacobson.

The US delegation expressed deep appreciation for Bangladesh’s continued humanitarian support to 1.2 million Rohingya refugees. They thanked Professor Yunus for his leadership in managing the crisis and advancing dialogue on repatriation.

The Principal Advisor noted that the Myanmar government’s identification of 180,000 Rohingyas as eligible for repatriation is a significant diplomatic achievement.

Nicole A. Chulik commended Bangladesh’s approach, stating:

“Your perspective is commendable — considering Myanmar in a holistic context, not viewing the Rohingya crisis in isolation.”

US officials also praised Professor Yunus’s vision for enhancing regional cooperation, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges, underlining Washington’s interest in promoting long-term stability in South Asi

Highlighting the strong Bangladesh-US partnership, the Principal Advisor reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment to working closely with the Trump administration across a wide spectrum of bilateral issues.

He also expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump for resuming humanitarian aid for the Rohingya crisis and granting a 90-day suspension of retaliatory tariffs, noting:

“We continue to support his trade agenda.”
