Dhaka, Apr 30 (V7N)- At the 45th meeting of the National Board of Revenue's Advisory Committee, Financial Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed emphasized that the interim government has no hidden agenda, and is committed to improving the lives of citizens despite the challenges.

“There may be mistakes. I admit that I’m taking a bad turn, but I’m still trying to improve the quality of life for the people,” he said in a candid remark.

Looking ahead, Dr. Salehuddin assured that the fiscal year 2025-26 budget will be realistic and implementable, focusing on economic sustainability and growth. He reiterated the importance of reducing government dependency, saying, “We must move away from the notion that the government will do everything. The private sector must lead.”

In a notable policy shift, he said that donor funds, including from the IMF, are being sought not for government expenditure but for supporting the private sector and businesses.

Calling for a departure from tax holidays, Dr. Salehuddin stressed the need to increase revenue collection, underlining that paying taxes strengthens society and benefits the country.
