Chittagong, May 13 (V7N) – Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the interim government, is set to visit Chittagong on Wednesday (May 14)—his first trip to the region since assuming office. The visit includes a series of high-profile events and meetings, along with a nostalgic return to his ancestral village.

According to Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Dr. Yunus will begin his day by attending the fifth convocation of Chittagong University (CU) as the chief guest.

He will then visit his ancestral home in Bathua village, located in Shikarpur Union under Hathazari Upazila. The visit marks an emotional return to his roots, garnering local anticipation and warm reception.

Upon his arrival in Chittagong, the Chief Advisor will also visit the port area, where he will attend a meeting at the NCT-5 terminal. There, he will engage in a discussion with senior port and shipping officials, representatives of port user organizations, and leaders from key trade associations.

Later in the day, he is scheduled to visit the Chittagong Circuit House, where he will unveil the foundation stone of the much-anticipated Kalurghat Bridge over the Karnaphuli River. The new bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity for residents of Boalkhali and Patiya upazilas and the southern bank of the river.

Additionally, city officials will brief the Chief Advisor on two critical local issues: waterlogging in Chittagong and traffic congestion on Hathazari Road near Oxygen Junction.
