Dhaka, July 02 (V7N) — The second phase of the meeting between political parties and the National Consensus Commission resumes today, Wednesday (July 2), after a two-day break. The discussions will begin at 10:30 am at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.

According to commission sources, no new issues will be raised during today’s session. Instead, deliberations will focus solely on topics where no consensus was achieved during earlier meetings. The aim is to resolve outstanding disagreements and expedite the finalization of the national reform proposal.

Speaking earlier, Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the Consensus Commission, said:

“The commission hopes to finalize a charter by July. But this will ultimately depend on the goodwill of the political parties.”

The first phase of discussions saw broad agreement on several points, but sharp differences remain on key reform measures, including electoral procedures, the structure of state institutions, and constitutional amendments.

The commission plans to continue the meetings in quick succession, aiming to submit a comprehensive reform proposal that can serve as the foundation for the country’s next phase of democratic governance.
