Dhaka, Aug 04 (V7N) – The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has officially cancelled the martyrdom gazette recognition of eight individuals who were previously listed as martyrs of the July Uprising. A notification issued by the ministry’s Gazette Branch on Sunday announced the removal, citing procedural grounds under the Welfare and Rehabilitation of Families of Martyrs and July Fighters Ordinance 2025 and existing Rules of Business.

Names Removed from Gazette:

  1. Md. Khalilur Rahman Talukder – Tangail

  2. Musleh Uddin – Rampura, Dhaka

  3. Jinnah Mia – Narsingdi

  4. Shah Zaman – Daulatkhan, Dhaka

  5. Md. Roni – Savar, Dhaka

  6. Tauhidul Alam Jisan – Narayanganj

  7. Bashir Sardar – Patuakhali

  8. Badhan – Shariatpur

The notification was issued without elaboration on the specific reasons or grounds for excluding these names, sparking questions among the families of the deceased and rights groups.

Officials confirmed the deletions were made under Section (b) of the ordinance, which permits removal of names on procedural or eligibility grounds. However, no public clarification or findings from any investigation have been released thus far.

This decision comes at a sensitive time, as the country marks the anniversary of the July Uprising, and scrutiny of historical recognition and accountability intensifies. Several civil society groups have already demanded transparency and a full explanation regarding the delisting of the martyrs.

More updates are expected as reactions emerge from the families of the omitted individuals and political observers weigh in.
