Dhaka, Aug 10 (V7N)– Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will embark on a three-day official visit to Malaysia tomorrow, Monday (Aug 11), at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. A high-level meeting between the heads of government of the two countries is scheduled for Tuesday in Putrajaya.
During the visit, Dr. Yunus and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will hold formal bilateral talks, where five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, along with the exchange of three notes in key sectors including defense, energy, and halal food.
Discussions are likely to cover a wide range of issues, including the resolution of worker migration challenges, defense cooperation, energy, trade and commerce, higher education, the Rohingya crisis, agriculture, maritime economy, and collaboration in regional and international forums such as ASEAN.
The visit holds particular significance as it comes after the formation of Bangladesh’s interim government led by Dr. Yunus, following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024. Notably, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited Dhaka in October last year, marking the first foreign head-of-government visit under the interim administration.
