PATUAKHALI, May 7, (V7N)– State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Md Nurul Hoque announced today that the government will introduce an “e-Health Card” under its “health for all” vision to modernize and integrate healthcare services nationwide.

Speaking during his first visit as chairman of the management committee of Patuakhali Medical College Hospital, the minister said the initiative will strengthen healthcare by improving treatment facilities and increasing manpower at divisional, district, upazila, and medical college levels. The e-Health Card system will ensure better coordination and access to patient health information.

Commenting on the hospital’s condition, Nurul Hoque noted that although it is a 250-bed facility, it currently serves 800–900 patients daily, leading to severe overcrowding. Many patients, including children and the elderly, are forced to stay in corridors and on floors.

To address this, he announced plans to establish a fully equipped 500-bed hospital for Patuakhali Medical College to improve healthcare services in the region.

Patuakhali Civil Surgeon Khaledur Rahman Mia, Superintendent of Police Md Abu Yusuf, Hospital Superintendent Dilruba Yasmin Rupa, and senior officials from various government departments were present during the visit.
