Dhaka, May 11 (V7N)- Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has launched nationwide sales of essential commodities through mobile trucks from Monday to provide daily necessities to consumers at affordable prices ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
According to a press release issued by TCB, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir inaugurated the program in the capital’s Agargaon area on Monday morning.
Under the initiative, edible oil, sugar, and lentils will be sold through trucks stationed at designated locations across the country, including different areas of Dhaka metropolitan city.
TCB said each truck will carry a fixed quantity of products, while customers will be allowed to purchase a limited amount of goods under government guidelines. The subsidized products will be distributed through TCB dealers and among card-holding families.
According to the prices fixed by TCB, edible oil will be sold at Tk 100 per liter, sugar at Tk 80 per kilogram, and lentils at Tk 70 per kilogram.
Each buyer will be able to purchase a maximum of two liters of edible oil, one kilogram of sugar, and two kilograms of lentils.
TCB officials said the initiative has been undertaken to help stabilize the market of essential commodities and ease the financial pressure on low-income people ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
