Dhaka, Sep 30 (V7N)- Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has said existing challenges in Bangladesh-India relations can be addressed through dialogue and engagement between the two countries’ political leadership.
Trivedi made the remarks after a courtesy meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir in Dhaka. He said India’s invitation to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman remains open and that the visit would take place when the timing is convenient for both sides.
The Indian envoy said there was no need to rush the proposed visit, adding that the two countries need to allow sufficient time to create a mutually conducive environment.
Trivedi also expressed optimism about further engagement between the two countries and said both sides are working toward addressing issues of mutual interest.
Earlier, State Minister Kobir said Bangladesh and India would seek to overcome existing challenges through dialogue and discussion. He said discussions on the prime minister’s proposed India visit had taken place during his meeting with Trivedi.
Kobir said no date had been finalised for the visit and that the timing would be determined through further discussions when the environment is conducive and based on mutual respect.
The Indian High Commissioner has previously said that India’s invitation to Tarique Rahman remains open and that there is no urgency over setting a date for the visit.
The latest discussions come as Dhaka and New Delhi continue diplomatic engagement on bilateral issues, with both sides publicly expressing interest in maintaining cooperation and improving relations.
