Feni, Oct 01 (V7N)- Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived in Feni on Thursday for the first time since the formation of the government.
The bus carrying the Prime Minister reached the Feni Sadar Hospital intersection at around 1:30 pm. Thousands of leaders, activists and people from different walks of life gathered along the Dhaka–Chattogram highway and the main roads of the district town to welcome him with applause.
Following the reception, the Prime Minister left for the Ghatghar area near Muhuri Bridge on Subar Bazar Road in Parashuram Upazila. There, he was scheduled to unveil the plaque of a Tk 1,542 crore mega project titled “Rehabilitation of Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Drainage and Irrigation Project (Phase 1)” and exchange greetings with local residents.
According to the itinerary, Tarique Rahman was also scheduled to visit Begum Khaleda Zia Women's College in Fulgazi Upazila to participate in a special tree-planting programme on the college premises.
He was then expected to visit the Fulgazi Zilla Parishad Dakbungalow to formally inaugurate the supply of solar power to the national grid from rooftop solar panels installed on the government building. A short rest was also planned there.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister was scheduled to attend a rally as the chief guest at the Fulgazi Government Pilot High School grounds.
During the programme, he was expected to distribute family cards and farmer cards among local residents, as well as provide honorariums to mosque imams, muezzins, khadems and other people serving at religious institutions.
After completing the day's programmes, the Prime Minister was scheduled to leave Feni for Dhaka by road at around 5:00 pm and reach the capital at approximately 9:00 pm.
