Dhaka, Jun 01 (V7N) – The government has announced a fresh adjustment in fuel oil prices, bringing some relief to consumers. Effective from Sunday (June 1), the prices of diesel, petrol, and octane have been reduced, while the price of kerosene has been increased.

According to a notification issued by the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources on Saturday evening, the revised prices are as follows:

  • Diesel: Reduced by 2 taka, now set at 102 taka per liter (previously 104 taka)

  • Petrol: Reduced by 3 taka, now priced at 118 taka per liter (previously 121 taka)

  • Octane: Reduced by 3 taka, now priced at 122 taka per liter (previously 125 taka)

  • Kerosene: Increased by 10 taka, now priced at 114 taka per liter (previously 104 taka)

The Ministry stated that the revision follows the monthly automatic fuel pricing formula, which adjusts local prices based on fluctuations in the international oil market.

In May, the fuel prices were reduced by 1 taka per liter, while in April, prices for all types of fuel remained unchanged.

The latest move aims to reflect international trends and ensure pricing consistency while balancing local economic realities. However, the hike in kerosene prices may raise concerns among low-income and rural households who rely on it for cooking and lighting.
