Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – The government has appointed Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), as a Director on the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Bank. The announcement was made in a notification issued by the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.

Dr. Khatun, a respected economist, has been appointed for a three-year term, beginning from the date of her joining. The appointment has been made under Article 9(3)(C) of the Bangladesh Bank Order 1972, according to Afchana Bilkis, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department.

The notification also stated that this decision has been taken in the public interest and will come into immediate effect. Dr. Khatun’s expertise in economic policy and research is expected to add valuable insight to the central bank’s board, further enhancing the governance of Bangladesh Bank.
