Moulvibazar, Dec 24 (V7N) — Moulvibazar is reeling under severe cold, with the country’s lowest temperature recorded at 8.9 degrees Celsius in Srimangal on Tuesday morning. This is a sharp drop from the previous day, when Srimangal recorded 10.4 degrees Celsius.
Despite some relief from sunshine during the day, the intense cold coupled with chilly winds has significantly disrupted daily life, particularly for tea workers and low-income residents. According to the Srimangal Meteorological Office, temperatures are expected to remain low for the next two to three days, with maximum daytime temperatures hovering between 18 and 19 degrees Celsius, intensifying the cold's impact.
Tea workers, who depend on daily wages, are struggling to cope with the biting cold, while the elderly and children are among the most affected. Relief measures, including the distribution of warm clothing, are being urged to support vulnerable groups in the district.
Meanwhile, Panchagarh is also experiencing a persistent cold wave, with temperatures fluctuating between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius over the past week. On Tuesday morning, Tentulia recorded a low of 9.4 degrees Celsius.
Fog blankets the region from evening until dawn, and although sunlight breaks through during the day, it fails to provide significant warmth. A steady northern wind has further compounded the cold, intensifying winter’s grip on the area.
Residents in both districts are bracing for continued chilly conditions, as meteorologists predict no immediate relief from the cold spell.
