RAJSHAHI, Sept 15 (V7N) — A total of 183 people have been arrested in special operations conducted by Rajshahi Range Police over the past 24 hours, with firearms, ammunition and various types of drugs seized during the operations.
Police also filed 54 cases during the period.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Rajshahi Range Police media wing on Monday morning.
According to police, the cases filed over the past 24 hours include one murder case, one case involving a dowry-related killing, one case under the Cyber Security Act, four theft cases and five cases related to violence against women and children. Another 42 cases were filed over other alleged offences.
Six cases of unnatural death were also recorded during the same period.
Of the 183 people arrested, 97 were wanted under arrest warrants, 15 were convicted fugitives, 59 were accused in cases under investigation and 12 were detained under preventive measures. Police also arrested 25 suspected drug dealers and users.
During the operations, police seized two foreign-made pistols, three magazines and seven rounds of ammunition.
The authorities also recovered 22 grams of heroin, 122 yaba tablets, 322 tapentadol tablets, 2 kilograms and 708 grams of cannabis, 2.2 litres of foreign liquor and 20 litres of locally produced illicit liquor.
Police said a total of 145 operations were conducted across different areas under the Rajshahi Range during the 24-hour period as part of efforts to control crime and maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, 1,083 citizens received various police services at different police stations under the Rajshahi Range during the same period.
The number of people receiving police services at stations across the range has reached 12,122 so far this month, according to the police.
