Dhaka, Mar 22 (V7N) – Rain is expected across all divisions of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, with the Meteorological Office forecasting potential Kalbaishakhi storms and scattered hailstorms in certain areas.
The weather forecast, issued until 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, indicates a likelihood of rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty or squally winds in one or two places within Dhaka, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions. There is also a possibility of hail in some locations.
"There is a possibility of rain across the country, including Dhaka, today. The Meteorological Office said that there is a possibility of Kalbaisakhi storms in three divisions of the country, along with scattered hailstorms in some areas," a weather official stated.
Adding to the forecast, Mustafa Kamal Palash, a meteorology and climate researcher at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, has highlighted a significant risk of thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall in various areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday.

Palash also warned that a Kalbaishakhi storm may enter Bangladesh through Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, and Dinajpur districts of Rangpur division and move southeastwards over Nilphamari, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, and Gaibandha districts, extending to Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions. Furthermore, light to moderate rain is expected in various areas of Dhaka, Khulna, and Barisal divisions during the same period.
