Mongla, Mar 23 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Coast Guard has successfully rescued seven fishermen who were stranded in the Pakshirchar area of the Sundarbans.

According to Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, a media officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Dhaka, the fishing trawler MV Mayer Doa ran aground on a submerged sandbar in the Pakshirchar area of Kachikhali around 4:00 AM on Sunday. The trawler was returning after a fishing expedition in the sea.

"The Coast Guard has rescued seven fishermen stranded in the Pakshirchar area of ​​the Sundarbans," a Coast Guard official confirmed.

Upon receiving the distress call, a four-member rescue team from the BCG Outpost Kachikhali, under the Coast Guard West Zone, swiftly responded and reached the stranded trawler. The team safely evacuated the seven fishermen and transported them to the BCG Outpost Kachikhali.

"The rescue team conducted an operation and rescued 7 fishermen who were stuck in the trawler safely and brought them to BCG Outpost Kachikhali," the official stated.

The Coast Guard medical team provided necessary first aid to the fishermen, who were reported to be in good health. The rescued individuals were identified as:

Salam Howlader (40)

Mosa Hawlader (18)

Azizul Hawlader (20)

All seven fishermen are residents of Sharankhola, Bagerhat.

Following the rescue, the Coast Guard facilitated the transfer of the fishermen to another fishing boat, in coordination with the trawler's owners.
