Ukhiya, July 14 (V7N)- The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) has arrested a member of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) who had returned from the war in Myanmar, at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar. During the arrest, two rifles and 50 rounds of ammunition were seized from him.

The arrested individual was handed over to Ukhiya police station. The detainee is Mohammad Ilyas (26), son of the late Hasan Ahmed, and a resident of Sub Block A-15 of Camp 11 in Ukhiya.

This information was revealed in a press release issued by the 14th APBn. He was apprehended on Saturday (July 13) at around 1:15 AM from a bamboo bridge near the tea shop of Sub Majhi Noor Alam in Block M-35 of Camp 20.

Mohammad Iqbal, the commander (Additional DIG) of the 14th Armed Police Battalion, which is deployed to maintain law and order in the Rohingya camps, stated that recently, an ARSA militant returning from the civil war in Myanmar was arrested with two rifles and 50 rounds of ammunition. He will be handed over to the police station along with the weapons and ammunition.

Shamim Hossain, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Ukhiya police station, said that a case will be filed against him under the Arms Act.
