Khagrachhari, Jan 29, (V7N) — The Khagrachhari Journalists Union (KJU) held its general meeting on Friday evening at the union office, where the new three-year executive committee for 2025-2027 was announced. The committee was formed following discussions and agreements in the meeting organized by the ad-hoc committee.

Unanimously, Yunus Shahriar, the Khagrachhari correspondent for Jamuna Television, was elected president, while Ishtiyak Ahmed Nipu, the district correspondent for Daily Dinkal, was selected as the general secretary.

The new executive committee includes:

Vice-President: Kanan Acharya, Khagrachhari correspondent for Maasranga Television

Assistant General Secretary: Biplab Talukder, Khagrachhari district correspondent for Asian Television and Daily Tritiomatro

Finance Secretary: Nuruchchafa Manik, Khagrachhari correspondent for Channel 24

Before the committee announcement, the general meeting, chaired by ad-hoc committee convener Liton Bhattacharya Rana, included discussions on adding new members to the committee. Ishtiyak Ahmed Nipu from Daily Dinkal and Yunus Shahriar from Jamuna Television were added as new members.

The meeting also focused on various topics, including the formation of the new executive committee and member inclusion. The initiative was taken to strengthen organizational activities.

The newly elected committee members promised to work together to enhance professional standards, ensure a positive environment for journalism, and strengthen the bond of unity among professional journalists. They also pledged to work towards securing the rights of journalists in the district and improving their work environment.
