DHAKA, Mar 30 (V7N) - Two new dengue cases have been reported in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday morning, bringing the total number of dengue infections in Bangladesh this year to 1,869, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
"Two more new dengue cases were reported in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday morning, bringing the total number of cases to 1,869 this year," a DGHS report confirmed.
The new cases were both reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
"According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), new cases were reported as follows: two in Dhaka South City Corporation," the DGHS stated.
The death toll from dengue remains at 13, with no new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.
"The number of deaths remained at 13, with no new fatalities reported during this period, the DGHS added," a health ministry spokesperson confirmed.
Currently, 65 dengue patients are receiving hospital treatment across the country.
"Currently, 65 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country," a DGHS medical update reported.
Last year saw a significant dengue outbreak in Bangladesh, with a high number of cases and fatalities.
"Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people. According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in the same year," a DGHS statistical report detailed.
Health officials continue to monitor the situation and urge residents to take preventive measures against mosquito breeding.
