THAKURGAON, April 1, (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today hailed Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s visit to China as a major diplomatic success for the government.
While exchanging Eid greetings with party leaders and activists at his residence in Kalibari, Fakhrul said that China's approach toward Bangladesh has shifted following the change in government. Unlike in the past, China is now engaging with all political parties instead of maintaining relations with only one.
He pointed out that China, the world’s third-largest economy, plays a crucial role in Bangladesh’s development and investment sector. The visit, he said, has further strengthened bilateral ties, paving the way for increased economic cooperation.
Fakhrul mentioned that during the visit, China made a commitment to enhance investments in Bangladesh’s production and infrastructure sectors. He believes this will significantly boost the country’s economic growth and employment opportunities.
He also highlighted that the government should leverage this strengthened relationship with China to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) and technological cooperation, which would help modernize industries and improve trade relations.
Regarding the upcoming general elections, Fakhrul expressed hope that they would be held this year, based on the timeline suggested by the Chief Adviser. He emphasized the importance of a fair and inclusive election process to ensure political stability and democratic progress.
