Rangamati, Sept 21 (V7N) – Tourists are flocking to Rangamati, a scenic hill district known for its mountains, lakes and waterfalls, as the monsoon transforms the landscape with lush greenery and abundant water.

Thousands of visitors from different parts of Bangladesh, particularly during weekends, are travelling to the hill town with family and friends, filling its major tourist attractions.

Kaptai Lake, the region’s main attraction, has taken on a fresh appearance after being replenished by rainwater flowing down from hill streams and waterfalls. Its vast expanse of water, surrounding green hills, cascading waterfalls and monsoon clouds are drawing visitors to the area.

Many tourists are taking boat trips across the lake, while others are travelling to nearby waterfalls to enjoy the monsoon scenery.

The Hanging Bridge, various waterways of Kaptai Lake, hill waterfalls and other nearby attractions have been attracting significant numbers of visitors during holidays. Some tourists are enjoying boat rides across the lake, while others are spending time in the clear waters of the waterfalls.

Visitors said Rangamati takes on a different character during the monsoon. With Kaptai Lake filled by rainwater and hill runoff, boat trips have become more enjoyable, while the waterfalls have regained their flow and emerged as another major attraction.

Tourists from Dhaka, Chattogram and other parts of the country said they travelled to Rangamati to spend time close to nature and away from the busy pace of city life. They said the combination of hills, lake and waterfalls has added to the appeal of their visit.

With the growing number of tourists, police have also strengthened security measures in the district.

Rangamati Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib said police have increased surveillance at tourist spots and on important roads and taken necessary measures to ensure the safety of visitors. Police personnel are also working to manage traffic, ensure tourist safety and respond to any unexpected situation, he said.

With its lush green hills, full Kaptai Lake and flowing waterfalls, Rangamati has become a popular monsoon destination, attracting visitors seeking to experience the natural beauty of Bangladesh’s hill country.
