Dhaka, Nov 14 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the party is fully prepared to implement the July Charter “as signed, in letter and spirit.” He made the remarks on Friday at a silent procession and rally organized by the Women and Children Forum in Shahbagh, Dhaka.

Salahuddin Ahmed stated that neither the people nor the BNP will accept any decision imposed outside the agreed July Charter. He added that any suggestion introduced without parliamentary approval would be unacceptable. However, he welcomed the decision to hold the referendum on the same day as the national election.

He emphasized that forming a parliament is essential for implementing both the referendum outcome and the July Charter. He also alleged that a certain political party is trying to gain electoral advantage by “selling tickets to heaven” in the name of religion, and intends to curtail women’s working hours and restrict their freedom.

Highlighting BNP’s commitment to women’s rights, Salahuddin said the party aims to safeguard family and social rights for women. He condemned recent incidents of violence against women in Rajshahi and criticized the filing of a case against a teacher at Jahangirnagar University.

“We are all Bangladeshis,” he said. “Bangladesh belongs to everyone. The rights of all citizens must be ensured. There will be no religious division — we will have one identity: we are Bangladeshis.”
