Dhaka, Nov 29 (V7N) — BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has requested citizens not to crowd hospitals while visiting BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, citing concerns for the treatment of other patients. He made the appeal during an emergency press briefing on Saturday.
Rizvi said, “We know that you are leaving with emotion and respect. However, we request you not to crowd the hospital so that other patients do not suffer.” He also urged everyone to pray for her recovery from their respective locations. The instructions have been issued by Khaleda Zia’s family and BNP leadership.
Earlier, Mirza Abbas, a member of BNP’s standing committee, confirmed that Khaleda Zia’s physical condition remains unstable. Abbas visited the hospital at midnight on Friday to check on her and said, “We tried to talk to her while maintaining distance, she recognized us, and we greeted her; she replied.”
Khaleda Zia, who is nearly 80 years old and suffering from multiple health issues, was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 with a lung infection and heart problems. She is receiving treatment under continuous close observation in the CCU, supervised by local and foreign specialist doctors under the Medical Board.
Meanwhile, Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, who visited Khaleda Zia at the hospital on Saturday, said that preparations are underway to transfer her to Singapore or Europe, but she is not yet physically fit to fly. Manna added that doctors have expressed limited optimism and urged the public to continue praying, noting that her condition remains critical with no improvement or deterioration compared to the previous day.
