Dhaka, Dec 30 (V7N)- A condolence book has been opened at the BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka, following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. Diplomats from various countries have begun signing the book to express their condolences.

The condolence book was opened at around 3:00 pm on Tuesday (December 30) at the Gulshan political office of the BNP.

Among those who signed the condolence book were Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and Pakistani High Commissioner Imran Haider, who also met BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at the office.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma arrived at the Gulshan office at 3:40 pm and signed the condolence book. However, he did not meet Tarique Rahman, as the BNP acting chairman had left the office earlier at around 3:15 pm.

In addition, representatives from the embassies of Sweden, the Netherlands, and Iran also signed the condolence book, paying their respects to the late former prime minister.

According to a statement posted on the BNP media cell’s Facebook page, diplomats, distinguished personalities, and people from all walks of life will be able to sign the condolence book. It will remain open on Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The statement also said that the condolence book signing program will continue on December 31 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and on January 1 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at the BNP’s Gulshan political office.
