DHAKA, April 9 (V7N)– The health condition of BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas is improving as he continues treatment at Singapore General Hospital, his aide confirmed today.
Assistant Private Secretary Mizanur Rahman Sohel said Abbas’s condition has shown progress compared to previous days. “Mirza Abbas is receiving therapy every day and remains under full care of the doctors,” he told BSS over the phone from Singapore.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, accompanied by his wife Rahat Ara Begum, visited Abbas at the hospital this noon. They inquired about his health and spent time with him. Fakhrul and fellow Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan are also in Singapore for medical purposes.
Abbas, who serves as Political Adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, was airlifted to Singapore on March 15 after undergoing brain surgery in Dhaka. He had collapsed at his Shahjahanpur residence during iftar on March 11 and was initially treated at Evercare Hospital, where a medical board of neurologists recommended advanced treatment abroad.
Doctors in Singapore continue to monitor his recovery closely, with party leaders expressing optimism about his gradual improvement.
