LOS ANGELES, Feb 11, (V7N) – Luka Doncic made his long-awaited Los Angeles Lakers debut, finishing with 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists as the Lakers cruised past the Utah Jazz 132-113 on Monday night. LeBron James led the charge with 24 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists, while the Lakers extended their winning streak to six games and claimed their 10th win in 11 outings.
Austin Reaves added 22 points and nine rebounds, and Rui Hachimura chipped in 21 as the Lakers dominated from the start. Jordan Goodwin contributed 17 points, providing an extra spark off the bench. Doncic, returning from a left calf strain, played 24 minutes, shooting 5-of-14 from the floor and 1-of-7 from deep in his first action since Christmas Day.
Utah struggled on both ends, with Lauri Markkanen and John Collins each scoring 17 points, while Jordan Clarkson added 16. Johnny Juzang had 14, and Isaiah Collier recorded 13 points and 10 assists in a double-double effort. The Jazz suffered their ninth consecutive road loss and have now dropped 12 of their last 14 games.
Doncic found his rhythm early, drilling his first Lakers three-pointer with 8:05 left in the first quarter. The Lakers stormed ahead 37-25 after one period and held a commanding 72-47 halftime lead, shooting a blistering 60% in the first half while the Jazz struggled at 40%.
By the fourth quarter, the Lakers led 100-75, never letting the Jazz back into the game. Utah failed to mount a comeback, and the Lakers secured their third straight win against them this season. The two teams meet again Wednesday in Salt Lake City.
A slight scare came in the final period when James left briefly due to abdominal discomfort, but he returned to the bench and did not need to check back in as the Lakers closed out the win with ease.
With Doncic now in the fold, the Lakers look even more dangerous as they push toward the playoffs. The Doncic-James-Davis trio is just getting started, and LA is riding high with momentum.
