Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also the BJP candidate, has officially entered the electoral fray by submitting his nomination papers for the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh, India. The nomination process took place at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Varanasi, as reported by NDTV.

Accompanied by top BJP leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Prime Minister Modi submitted his nomination papers under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner S Rajalingam. This marks Modi's third consecutive candidacy from the Varanasi seat, having won the seat in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Prior to submitting his nomination, Prime Minister Modi performed religious rituals at the Bhairav temple, underscoring the significance of the occasion. The seventh and final phase of voting for the Varanasi constituency is scheduled for June 1, with Tuesday being the deadline for submitting nomination papers.

With voting underway in 543 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country in seven phases, the Varanasi constituency remains a focal point of the electoral process. The completion of polling in 379 constituencies in the initial four phases sets the stage for the remaining three rounds, with the fifth phase slated for May 20, the sixth phase on May 26, and the final phase on June 1.
