Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to return to Tihar Jail on Sunday following the expiration of his interim bail in the Delhi Excise corruption case. The Supreme Court had granted Kejriwal interim bail to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, which have now concluded.

According to the Hindustan Times, Kejriwal's interim bail expired on Saturday. The court had allowed him temporary relief to participate in election campaigning, with the condition that he surrender the day after the last phase of voting. Consequently, Kejriwal announced that he would leave his home around 3 p.m. on Sunday to report to Tihar Jail.

Kejriwal had applied for a seven-day extension of his interim bail, citing health issues. However, after an extensive hearing on Saturday, Judge Kaveri Bayeza postponed the decision on his bail application until June 5. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) lawyer strongly opposed the extension of his interim bail.

The Delhi Chief Minister was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with the Excise corruption case. Despite his appeal for more time due to illness, Kejriwal will comply with the court's directive and surrender as scheduled.
