New Delhi, June 5, 2024 —Following the significant victory over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee has traveled to Delhi to participate in a crucial meeting of the Congress-led 'India' alliance. Banerjee departed for Delhi on Wednesday, June 5.

Before his departure, Abhishek addressed reporters at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. He emphasized the importance of the meeting, stating that discussions would focus on the future actions of the alliance. He remarked that the BJP's defeat was a result of widespread public disapproval due to issues such as caste-based hatred, corruption, and the illicit smuggling of the country's wealth abroad. These factors, he asserted, contributed to the BJP's poor performance in West Bengal.

This year's Lok Sabha elections saw the Trinamool Congress securing 29 out of the 42 seats in West Bengal, an increase from their previous tally. Under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, the TMC has reinforced its dominant position in the state, highlighting the electorate's continued support.

As the 'India' alliance strategizes its next moves, Abhishek Banerjee's participation underscores the TMC's commitment to a united opposition front aimed at addressing the pressing issues facing the country and countering the BJP's influence at the national level.
