DHAKA, March 29, 2025 (V7N) – Bangladesh Railway Police arrested a young man at Kamalapur Railway Station today for allegedly engaging in ticket black marketing.
Md Rakib Miah, 24, was taken into custody with 21 railway tickets of various routes and a smartphone, according to a Bangladesh Railway (BR) official. Despite warnings from authorities against illegal ticket sales, black market activities persist.
Law enforcement and railway officials have been intensifying efforts to prevent ticket fraud, ensuring smooth train travel through online and mobile app ticket sales. A railway officer at Kamalapur confirmed that operations against ticket scalping would continue until after the Eid festival.
To accommodate Eid travelers, Bangladesh Railway has introduced additional and special trains. These include five pairs of special services:
Chandpur Eid Special-1 & 2 (Chattogram-Chandpur)
Dewanganj Eid Special-3 & 4 (Dhaka-Dewanganj)
Solakia Eid Special-5 & 6 (Bhairab Bazar-Kishoreganj)
Solakia Eid Special-7 & 8 (Mymensingh-Kishoreganj)
Parbatipur Eid Special-9 & 10 (Joydebpur-Parbatipur)
Security has been significantly increased at major railway stations, including Dhaka, Airport, Joydebpur, Chittagong, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Khulna. Additional 200 Ansar members have been deployed alongside the existing 490 Railway Security Force personnel, with support from GRP, RNB, BGB, local police, and RAB.
Dhaka Divisional Commandant Mohammad Shafiqul Islam emphasized a three-tier security system at Kamalapur station, including separate entry and exit gates to ensure passenger safety. Security measures will continue throughout the Eid season to prevent disruptions on moving trains, at stations, and along railway lines.
