Jhalokathi, Nov 19 (V7N) – The body of a 60-year-old vegetable seller, Dulal Khan, was recovered from a canal in the Palbari area of Jhalokathi town on Tuesday morning.
Local residents spotted a floating body around 9:00 a.m. on November 18 and informed the police. Officers from Jhalokathi Sadar Police Station arrived at the scene and retrieved the body.
Dulal Khan was the son of the late Kalu Khan and a resident of the Kaliandar area in Sadar Upazila. According to police and family members, Dulal sold vegetables for a living. He would bring produce to Jhalokathi town by boat to sell.
On November 16, after selling vegetables in the town, Dulal Khan reportedly fell into the canal near Badamtola Launch Ghat while returning home by boat and went missing. Despite extensive searches, he could not be located until his body was found two days later.
Moniruzzaman, the Officer-in-Charge of Jhalokathi Sadar Police Station, confirmed the recovery of the body. Since the family did not file any complaint, the body was handed over to them.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
