Rangamati, Nov 27 (V7N) – A head-on collision between a CNG-run autorickshaw and a covered van on the Rangamati–Chattogram Highway left one person dead and three others injured on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred around 12 p.m. at the Chairman Ghata area in Betbunia.

According to eyewitnesses, the Chattogram-bound autorickshaw and a Rangamati-bound covered van collided after one of the vehicles lost control upon reaching Chairman Ghata. Autorickshaw driver Hasan Mia, 22, died on the spot. He was the son of Jahangir Alam from Lalmohon upazila in Bhola. Police from Kawkhali Station confirmed the incident.

The injured include autorickshaw passengers Gias Uddin, 39, and Abdul Kader, as well as the covered van driver Shibu Barua, 35, of Jaistyapura in Boalkhali upazila, Chattogram. All three were rescued and taken to Gahira JK Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police stated that the body of Hasan Mia was kept at the Betbunia police outpost before being sent to Rangamati General Hospital for post-mortem examination. Law enforcement agencies said that legal procedures regarding the accident are currently underway.
