Jhalokathi, Nov 30 (V7N) – A devastating fire has reduced the home of day laborer Fazlur Rahman Khan to ashes in the Galua Bazar mobile tower area of Rajapur upazila, leaving his family with nothing. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon near the Mirabari locality adjacent to Galua Bazar.
According to initial assessments, the blaze is believed to have originated from an electrical short circuit at the household’s meter. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the entire house within moments. The total damage is estimated at around Tk 7 lakh.
Upon receiving the alert, a unit from the Rajapur Fire Service rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control. However, by the time firefighters arrived, the house and all belongings inside were already destroyed.
Local residents said the family members were outside when the fire started, and the flames spread so quickly that nothing could be saved.
Fazlur Rahman Khan, the affected homeowner, said the fire first erupted at the base of the electric meter and then rapidly spread throughout the house. All household items, including the refrigerator, television, and essential belongings, were completely burned. He estimated his total loss at over Tk 7 lakh.
Humanitarian groups and local community members have called for urgent assistance to support the devastated family.
