Chuadanga, Dec 12 (V7N) – A pedestrian was critically injured during the annual police firing practice in Chuadanga on Thursday. The incident occurred around noon at the Jafarpur BGB Camp in Chuadanga Sadar when police were conducting a musketry firing exercise. The victim, Babu Hossain, 32, was immediately rescued and taken to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital. Following medical advice, he was later transferred to Rajshahi Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital for advanced treatment and bullet removal. Babu Hossain is the son of Abdul Hamid from Satgari, Chuadanga Municipality.

Eyewitnesses reported that Babu Hossain was riding a motorcycle from Haidarpur to Satgari when a bullet struck his left chest, causing him to collapse. Locals promptly assisted him and took him to the hospital for initial treatment.

Dr. Ehsanul Haque Tanmoy, a surgery consultant at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, stated that the bullet penetrated approximately one inch into the left side of his chest.

OC Mizanur Rahman of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station confirmed that the two-day firing exercise was being conducted with all standard safety measures and public warnings. An investigation is underway to determine the source of the stray bullet.

The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols during police training exercises and the protection of nearby civilians.
