Habiganj, Dec 18 (V7N) — One person was killed and at least 20 others were injured in a collision between an oil voucher-carrying vehicle and a passenger bus on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident occurred at around 1:00 pm on the southern side of Saheb Bari Gate. Following the collision, local residents and emergency responders rescued the injured and transported them to nearby hospitals and clinics for treatment.
Upon receiving information, the Shayestaganj Highway Police rushed to the scene and recovered the body of the deceased. Both vehicles involved in the accident were seized and taken into police custody.
Shayestaganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Taher Dewan said that the vehicles involved in the crash had been detained. However, no staff members of the bus were found at the scene immediately after the accident. As a result, the identity of the deceased has not yet been officially confirmed, although preliminary information suggests that the victim may have been the bus supervisor.
Police said verification is ongoing and legal proceedings are currently underway.
