Jhalokathi, Jan 01 (V7N) — A private car travelling from Kuakata to Khulna veered off the road and crashed into a paddy field in Rajapur upazila of Jhalokathi on Wednesday evening, leaving at least five occupants seriously injured.

The accident occurred around evening near the Uttar Baghri School area. The injured were identified as Tayebur Molla, Md. Hadikur Rahman Biswas, Md. Suman Biswas, the driver of the vehicle, Md. Rakibul Gazi, and Juboraj Khandakar.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, the car was returning from a tour to Kuakata and heading towards Khulna. While crossing the Uttar Baghri School area, the vehicle suddenly lost control, skidded off the road, and plunged into a low-lying paddy field beside the highway. All five passengers inside the car sustained injuries in the crash.

Upon receiving information, Rajapur Fire Service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the injured from the damaged vehicle. Station Officer Abdul Khalek said the victims were given first aid at the scene, but due to the severity of their injuries, they were immediately referred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal for advanced treatment.

Rajapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam said police are aware of the incident and have begun investigating the cause of the accident. The vehicle has been recovered, and further inquiries are underway to determine the exact circumstances behind the crash.
