Sirajganj, Dec 12 (V7N)- Today marks the 145th birth anniversary of the legendary leader and advocate for the oppressed, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani. Born on December 12, 1880, in Dhangara Palli, Sirajganj, Bhashani dedicated his life to the liberation and welfare of marginalized people across the region.

Though born in Sirajganj, Maulana Bhashani spent much of his life in Tangail. A dynamic political figure from a young age, he served as the president of the Bengal-Assam Province Muslim League for an extended period.
Known as a lifelong agitator for justice, he played a pivotal role in the 1954 formation of the United Front, which became a turning point in Bengal's political history.
