Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) — The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Bangladesh has strongly refuted a report published by the Indian media outlet Anandabazar Patrika (Online) on Friday, December 27, titled "Bengali Genocide Bloodshed in Urdu! The Defeated Pak Army is Returning to Bangladesh After 53 Years."

In a protest letter issued on Saturday, ISPR described the report as "misleading and baseless," asserting that it contains false information about the Bangladesh Army.

The statement clarified that the Bangladesh Army upholds principles of professionalism, impartiality, and international cooperation. As part of its regular operations, the Army maintains friendly relations with armed forces of various countries, conducting cooperative programs such as student exchanges and training to foster mutual understanding and skill development.

ISPR categorically denied any plans for a training team or delegation from the Pakistan Army to visit any cantonment in Bangladesh. "This claim is baseless and not in line with reality," the statement said.

The protest letter also addressed the report's allegations regarding ammunition procurement, stating that the Bangladesh Army acquires necessary resources from multiple countries based on operational needs. It described the report’s claims as "ignorant opinions on sensitive defense issues" and labelled them "unwelcome, unwanted, and offensive."

Additionally, ISPR criticized the journalistic approach of Anandabazar Patrika, noting that the newspaper failed to seek any comments or explanations from Bangladesh's ISPR before publishing the report. This oversight, ISPR argued, undermines the impartiality and credibility of the report.

The Bangladesh Army reiterated its commitment to transparency and the dissemination of accurate information. ISPR urged media outlets to verify information with reliable sources before publishing, to avoid spreading misinformation.

This incident highlights the importance of responsible journalism, especially when reporting on sensitive defense and international relations matters.
