Dhaka, Jan 15, (V7N) - The government is ramping up its efforts to address misconduct among officials within law enforcement and other government agencies, as stated by Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday.

During a press briefing after inspecting the Ansar and VDP Headquarters in Khilgaon, he announced the recent detention of Motiur, known as 'Chhagol Motiur,' who had previously evaded capture.Jahangir Alam emphasized that those involved in misconduct during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the events of August 5 are being identified and will face justice.

He responded to concerns regarding allegations that some police officers accused of misconduct had been promoted or transferred instead of facing disciplinary action. He assured that thorough investigations are ongoing and that no one will be spared based on the evidence collected. Some individuals have already been arrested, but he noted that the process is time-consuming, especially as many accused remain in hiding. The adviser called on media outlets to assist by providing lists of controversial officials within the Police Headquarters for further investigation.

He also praised journalists for their role in countering misinformation and propaganda from neighboring countries, encouraging more investigative journalism to hold individuals accountable. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to enhancing accountability and transparency within law enforcement agencies, aiming to restore public trust and ensure justice for those affected by misconduct.
